This palace was the home of the president of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. This was also the place that marked the end of the Vietnam War when a North Vietnamese army tanker crashed through the main gate in 1975. It is now a museum that provides a fascinating look at life in South Vietnam during the war.
Notre-Dame Cathedral (Nha Tho Duc Ba): Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon, officially Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception is a cathedral located in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Established by French colonists who initially named it the Church of Saigon, the cathedral was constructed between 1863 and 1880.
Saigon Central Post Office: is the post office in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, near Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, the city’s cathedral. The building was constructed when Vietnam was part of French Indochina in the late 19th century.
War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war. Some of the black and white photography in the ‘Requiem’ exhibit is particularly touching, dedicated to both foreign and Vietnamese journalists and photographers who perished during the conflict. The courtyard outside contains the spoils of war, namely rusting jets, tanks, and cannons captured from the American military machine.
